3 Things About August Your Boss Wants To Know
August has to be great! Was last month great for you? What most people want to know is “How much money did you make?” Because come to think of it, you really can’t do anything worthwhile in this country without money. It’s why I’m not surprised when i hear about some $90 billion dollars being stolen somewhere.
Every business owner sits down at the end of the month to reconcile their accounts and find out how much they made or lost. And in that sitting, the future is decided on whether a ‘horrible boss’ is born: no hard feelings to those who’ve lost their minds because of a cranky boss but we feel their pain. After all, salaries can’t be paid if no money is made. No one starts/runs a business to lose money.
List of things your boss wants to know this month of August
1. Are you going to make me money this month? In order words are you going to be useful to this business or not. Like Rufus, our Lead designer said, “Frankly, all I want for this month is money o.” As an employee, you need to understand how what you do profits the business. You should also know your numbers and complete the tasks and projects you have on your desk on time.
2. Are you going to work more? In short, I hope you are not going to leave your seat by 6 pm to tell me you are heading home (this is where your boss gives you that look). You have to be clear on your purpose in your organisation, know where the business is heading and make money first before you think of having a life (literally). Thankfully, we have a break from the rains. In case you were’t already aware, every boss wants you to be a replica of himself/herself: A WORKAHOLIC
3. Are you going to be a better team player? Being in the same environment with other people can be challenging especially when everyone has grand ideas of who they are (Egotistical fellows. Every business has them). Getting the job done is what’s most important though and you have to set your differences aside and put your ego in your pocket so work can go on. In times when there is conflict, communication and diplomacy are extremely helpful.
That’s what the team at Aggital thinks every boss wants to know this month but what do YOU think? Of course, we all have personal goals too like being more productive, achieving relationship and financial goals, having more fun or reading more. Those desires and the ability to see them through make us more effective in our personal and work lives.
So we’d love to hear your own opinion on expectations for August.
