Have You Gotten Your PVC Yet‽
Hello everyone! What’s popping? Thanks for sticking through the just concluded series. We are done with “3 myths about the KJV“, but we aren’t done with Church History, so keep an eye out for it. Well, today is a reminder for y’all to go get your PVCs (Permanent Voter Cards) if you haven’t already. As we all know, the date for the presidential election (holding here in Nigeria) is rather imminent. I’ll just have the date written here for those who just might have forgotten – February 25th, 2023 (Saturday).
As to the collection of PVCs, the date for the expiration of such is closer. Need I say more! The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has extended the deadline for the collection of PVCs nationwide by 7 days. From January 22nd, 2023 to January 29th, 2023.
INEC asserted this in a statement on Thursday, 12th January 2023, signed by Festus Okoye, the national commissioner and chairman of information & voter education of INEC. This new date applies to all 774 LGAs in Nigeria. He stated that the date was rescheduled to provide every registered voter with the copious opportunity to collect their PVCs early enough, prior to the upcoming elections. I’ll just have the statement written here. It reads:
“The Commission is encouraged by the turnout of registered voters and the surge in the number of collected PVCs across the country. In some of the States, as many as 100,000 PVCs were collected in the last five days since the devolution to Ward level started on Saturday 6th January 2023.
The Commission is determined to ensure that registered voters have ample opportunity to collect their PVCs ahead of the forthcoming election. For this reason, the timeframe for the collection of PVCs is extended by seven days.
“Instead of ending on Sunday 22nd January 2023, the collection of PVCs will continue until Sunday 29th January 2023. At the moment, the period of collection is 9.00 am – 3.00 pm daily (including Saturdays and Sundays).
“As a result of this extension, there is a consequential adjustment of the collection by location as follows: Collection at Registration Area (Ward) level is extended by one a week from Monday 16th – Sunday 22nd January 2023; Collection at Local Government level will resume on Monday 23rd – Sunday 29th January 2023.”
So, if you haven’t gotten your PVC, be sure t get yours. You’ve got no excuse. Lol. I’m quite serious though. Do not allow this election take place without voting. The future of Nigeria is obviously on the shoulders of the voters. As the declaration of independence (US) reads:
“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.–That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, –That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly, all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.–Such has been the patient sufferance of these Colonies, and such is now the necessity which constrains them to alter their former Systems of Government. The history of the present King of Great Britain is a history of repeated injuries and usurpations, all having in direct object the establishment of an absolute Tyranny over these States. To prove this, let Facts be submitted to a candid world.”
So fellas, if you haven’t gotten your PVC, please don’t just endeavour to, get it! Here’s how to get it – Take your slip to the specified INEC office within your LGA, present it to an official at the office, and simply have him/her lead you through the rest of the procedure.
