Our Culture – Reward Of Service

It’s been a while we shared our bible insights with you, so we thought it necessary to share a part of the bible that would elevate you this week.

We came across Ephesians chapter six and discovered that God expects us to serve our bosses just like we were to serve Him.

Actually, this instruction applies to every area of our lives but we’d like to use the workplace as a case study today.

It’s only natural for our bosses to scream almost all the time and make so much noise about inefficiency, but we’re not expected to react with the same violence.

Here’s a scenario: If Jesus Christ comes to earth and starts a business, how would you serve him? I’m sure that the chances of you doing your job shabbily would be very slim.

In the sixth verse of the book of Ephesians, we learned that just as we have a heavenly master, we also have earthly masters. The first part talks about obedience to our parents, the first commandment that comes with a blessing.

Our main focus is on verse 5, which talks about obedience to our masters according to the flesh. This simply means that no matter our status or age, we’re not expected to disregard those above us.

According to the Word, we are to obey our human masters with fear and trembling. This is quite tough and sounds almost unfair, but the reward attached to it isn’t something anyone should miss.

The Word of God is free from ambiguity; you are to serve your masters with a “sincere heart, as though you were serving Christ”.

It doesn’t end here, you are not to serve your boss with “eye service” or as “men-pleasers” but as “servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart”. This is quite clear. It’s not right to do your job because your boss is watching or because you want to gain approval, your common sense should be active at every second.

Although most of us are guilty of this act, we’re not supposed to be pushed or pricked to do our jobs, it should come naturally.

However, the Word also teaches us to work cheerfully, as though you served the Lord and not merely human beings. Don’t keep your mind fixed on the actions of your superior, rather focus on serving wholeheartedly like you’re serving Christ.

We believe that it’s not enough to have a job, the real deal is having a job and doing it right. This is what God recognizes and rewards bountifully. The rewards that you get is measured only by what you do and how you do what you do. Evil brings evil and good brings good.

Finally, we really hope this would change your perception and working standards. The week is still young, it’s not too late to make changes and start getting exciting rewards from the throne of grace.
